Although advertising is much more effective at getting more clients, organic social media can incredible for businesses.
However shallow this may be, having a high follower count increases the credibility. Allowing for more partnerships, sponsors etc.
This is common knowledge, but what's not common knowledge is how to actually grow a successful social media page.
(Spoiler) It's not buying followers
So How Do You Actually Grow an Account?
There's good news and there's bad news.
The good news is... you don't have to be an expert videographer to go viral. Social Media isn't Hollywood and luckily for us you don't need a full blown movie team to get millions of views. For most businesses, simply recording videos of you doing your job with a voice over or a nice music track beneath it is enough.
The work that you're doing is already interesting enough to garner attention (especially if you're good at it).
Before you grab your phone and start shooting videos there are 3 things you should know:
Number 1 - Lighting
One of the most important and least talked about part of any viral video is the lighting. If you look for it, in any viral video you see, there is good lighting. People online are tired and somewhat lazy, this means that they're unwilling to squint to try figure out what's going on in your video. So, if you're ever shooting a video, make sure the lighting is clear and whatever you're recording is easy to see.
Number 2 - A solid hook
People on apps like TikTok and Instagram are notorious for having low attention spans. This means you have to hook their attention within the first 3 seconds or else they'll swipe away. Now this is a difficult thing to do and takes practise to learn, however a good way to look at it is, the first 3 seconds has to be the most interesting. They should make you want to continue watching.
Maybe start the video in the middle of your work, make the first 3 seconds purposefully confusing in order to hook their attention.
Number 3 - How to tell if you're doing well
On any social media site, there is a page where you can view the analytics of your post.
This is not a page for nerds.
This might be the most vital page for becoming successful online, the analytics page allow you to view thing like audience retention time (how long a viewer watches for), what gender likes your posts the most and much more.
I will be writing another article explaining the analytics page soon, but for now check it out and see what intuitively makes sense.
This brings us on to the bad news...
The Bad News...
The bad news is... growth on social media requires consistency.
To get the best results you should post 2-4 times a day everyday. Now this may feel like a gargantuan task, if you've already got a full work load and that's why we run social pages for businesses. You can find out what we'd do for you by filling out the form here: https://www.taitmarketing.co.uk/contact-6
Think of it this way, there are tens of thousands of accounts created everyday, some are scams, some post terrible content etc.
An app like TikTok only want to promote the best of the best creators.
The way to gain favour with TikTok's algorithm is to post multiple times a day as it means you're less likely to have bad content. Although this doesn't mean you should post 600 times a day and "hack the system" because that would instantly get you shadow-banned. (An unofficial form of banning, where all of your videos get stuck at zero views because TikTok think you're suspicious).
Hopefully, this article gave you some insight on how to grow a social media page, if you'd like marketing help contact me personally via filling out this form: https://www.taitmarketing.co.uk/contact-6 I'll get back to you within 24 hours.
