Yesterday, I made an article explaining how good writing will get you more sales.

If you've not seen that check it out here: https://www.taitmarketing.co.uk/post/how-to-get-more-sales-by-improving-your-writing However, when I opened Instagram this morning I saw another horrendous ad that prompted me to write a part 2.

Let me describe the ad to you and give you a picture as to why it was so terrible.

So, it started like any other ad, showing off a product. In this case it was for a car tuning dealership.

The worst pat was, the image was really cool, it was a picture of a crimson-red ferrari tearing through the swiss alps.

However, like a toddler drenching their food with ketchup, the visuals were overshadowing by the ridiculously bad writing. By the way, I may refer to writing as "copy", don't worry they mean the same thing. Writers just try confuse people with pretentious lingo. The weird part was no individual part of the ad copy was that bad. The problem was it just went on and on an on!!!! This is a problem I see often in marketing, people are really good at what they do and know a bunch about what they sell. So, they try list everything they know and can do in a Lord of The Rings style tome.

This is a terrible idea, as like I've said in other articles, if a prospect gets bored they won't buy.

So How Do You Write In A Way That's Not Boring?

There's an easy way and a hard way.

The hard way is to read and write a lot, exposing yourself to more writing will naturally make you better at it. Unfortunately, for most this is incredibly boring and a huge waste of time, especially if you've got a business to run! Luckily there's a much easier way...

Be concise.

It's a lot easier to not be boring or sound like a demented toddler if you write shorter messages.

You can only include the best bits which hold the most information.

This improves sales massively as it allows a client to get information about you fast and easily, instead of having to decipher hieroglyphics.

So as a general rule of thumb, reduce the waffle and keep it nice and short ;)
